On 3rd February, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored his maiden double century against England in Vizag. His innings saw a perfect blend of great defensive play and aggressive mindset in the same innings. With India bowled out for 396, Jaiswal made the majority of the runs, scoring 209. The 2nd highest run scorer was Shubman Gill, with only 34 runs.

With the southpaw inching close to 200, he had to face debutant Shoaib Bashir. Bashir had picked up two wickets by then and looked in good shape. The first ball of the over, he swept the ball for a six above square leg. The very next ball, under pressure, Bashir bowled a full toss. Jaiswal punished the ball delivery by smacking it at square leg again, with his double century complete.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) team, Chennai Super Kings, uploaded the clip of Jaiswal hitting the boundary for his double century. They then joked how the 22-year-old hit the boundaries in that order as it matches his shirt number, 64.

Jasprit Bumrah’s double strike puts India on the front seat at Tea

Trailing by 396, Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett gave their usual quick starts to England, scoring 31 in the 5 overs they played before lunch. They continued attacking, as Crawley hit Jasprit Bumrah for four boundaries in the 9th over. By the 10th over, England were 59 off 10.

Deciding to bring Kuldeep Yadav back into the attack, the chinaman got Duckett as the southpaw edged the ball to the fielder at silly point. Crawley completed his 50 in just 52 balls, bringing it up and hitting Yadav for a six and a four. Unfortunately he was the next to depart, falling victim to Axar Patel in his first over along with a brilliant catch by Shreyas Iyer.

As soon as Joe Root came in to bat, Bumrah was reintroduced. The pacer found movement and bounce off the pitch. It took him only six balls to get Root out, as he edged the ball to slip. He didn’t stop as a ferocious yorker to Ollie Pope in his next over got England four wickets down.

By Day 2 Tea, England were 155/4, still trailing 241 . Captain Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow are in the middle for England.
