Cubs' Star Prospects Dominating in Arizona Fall League
USA TODAY Sports

One of the top prospect ranking sites has given the Chicago Cubs' minor league players a major boost in their rankings.

This comes on the heels of impressive seasons where these players turned heads and showed what their potential could become if they continue developing.

But, while the minor league season is over, the Arizona Fall League is still taking place, showcasing top prospects from all 30 teams in baseball facing off against each other.

Two of the Cubs' star prospects have been dominating.

Outfielder Kevin Alcantara and second baseman James Triantos earned Monday's top performer honors after leading their team to victory.

Alcantara, Chicago's No. 4 ranked prospect, hit a two-run walk-off home run for the Solar Sox in the bottom of the 10th inning. This completed an eight-run comeback and put a bow on their 10-8 victory.

This was his third Fall League homer and the first walk-off home run of his professional career.

In nine games, Alcantara has a slash line of .243/.341/.541. He's tied for the lead in home runs and is fourth with 12 RBI.

Triantos' performance shouldn't be overlooked either.

The No. 9 ranked prospect for the Cubs went 4-6 on Monday, including a game tying RBI in the bottom of the ninth that pushed the game to extra innings.

His slash line this fall is .455/.571/.788 across nine games. He sits fourth in Batting Average, third in On-Base Percentage, second in Slugging and is tied for fourth in RBI (11).

The 2021 second-round pick is showing that his name should be thrown around with others in Chicago's pipeline as one of the best young players in their farm system.

It's been a great showing so far for two of the Cubs' future stars as they look to continue developing and making it to the MLB roster sooner rather than later.
