Jerry Rice picks which Hall of Fame QB he'd rather play with

Jerry Rice, the undisputed best receiver of all time, had the luxury of having two Hall of Fame quarterbacks, Joe Montana and Steve Young, throw him the ball. However, if he could only choose one, which would he rather play with?

Rice answered the impossible question on the podcast of former Pro Bowl wideout Keyshawn Johnson, "All Facts No Brakes."

"Joe Montana and I, we had such chemistry, man," Rice said. "If Joe was a female, we would've dated because the chemistry was just that good."

While injuries robbed Montana of two seasons with Rice, the pair connected on 67 touchdowns together. Meanwhile, Rice led the league in touchdown receptions twice with No. 16 leading the charge.

As Rice described, he and Montana were almost always on the same page, creating one of the most potent duos in NFL history.

"I knew Montana wouldn't hold onto the ball that long, and if I ran my routes, I knew the ball was halfway in the air," Rice said.

Rice spent more time with Young, so they had more success together than he and Montana. Over roughly eight seasons alongside one another, Young and Rice hooked up for 92 touchdowns. At the time, the robust number was an NFL record, which Hall of Famers Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison (114) broke in 2005

The Rice and Young connections accounted for nearly half of the 10-time All-Pro's career touchdown output, helping him set records that no one has broken still. Two decades after retiring from the NFL, Rice remains the league's all-time leader in receiving yards (22,985) and touchdowns (197).

There's no denying Rice's seamless ability to vibe with both Montana and Young. However, he revealed that doing so was a trait of his, which rubbed off no matter who was throwing the football, whether it be an all-time great or someone like Jeff Garcia or Steve Bono.

"I was always able to adjust to whoever was behind center and brought out the best in them," Rice said.
